In India and in Nepal, since centuries, soap nuts are used to wash silk, wool and traditional coloured linen. Indian women also use them for skin and hair care, for the laundry or as a washing soap, to do the dishes or to do house cleaning. These nuts come from the Soap Nut tree.
Soap Nuts, with purifying and cleaning properties, leave a neutral fragrance, even if they are odorous when they are dry. Linen will be soft and silky-smooth thanks to the presence of saponin, natural and efficient.
1kg de soap nuts is enough for approximately 130 wash cycles; that corresponds for a year to 2 or 3 laundries per week. White cotton bags come with the soap nuts, they are to be used for the laundry and can be reused.
For laundry in a washing machine, put 4 broken nutshells in a white cotton bag and place it directly in the washing machine. Soap nuts are reusable 3 times for low temperatures and twice for washing at 60°.
For hand-wash, you just need to boil 5 nutshells in 1 litre of water and let it cool; boil again and let it soak all night, before filtering. This decoction can be used as a liquid soap for clothes, for shampooing a domestic animal, for house keeping or also as dish washing liquid. It can be kept 10 days in the fridge, adding a few drops of citric acid.

Stain removal and bleaching Salt Sodium percarbonate can be used as a complement to soap nuts. It releases active oxygen which is clean for the environment and completes the ecological virtues of Indian Soap Nuts.
It dissolves persistent stains and works as an antibacterial soap. Colored linens keep their colors. Its oxygen bleaching action is safe for use on coloured items, its avoids grey stains and preserves the brilliance and freshness of white linen.
The sodium salt can be added directly into the washing machine. To obtain a bright and dazzling white, 1 table spoon is enough for a full laundry (4 to 5 kg). For persistent stains, put 2 tablespoons. 1 tablespoons for hand washing or for soaking.
The bottle of 500g corresponds to approximately 25 to 50 washings. 100% biodegradable.
